Wang Jianguo, Chairman of the University Council of BJTU, was born in Taihe County of Jiangxi Province in September 1959. He joined the Communist Party in May 1982 and began to work in March 1976 after he graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University. Work and education experience: from 1976 to 1978, worked at the Agricultural Bureau of Taihe County, Jiangxi Province; from October 1978 to 1983, studied at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University and graduated with Bachelor of Engineering degree; from 1983 to 1986, worked as director of public relations and vice secretary of the Youth League of Tsinghua University (during this period, from September 1984 to June 1986, studied at the Social Sciences Department of Tsinghua University and received Bachelor of Law degree); from 1986 to 1989, worked at the Students’ Ideological Affairs Office of the Ideological and Political Education Devision of the National Educational Commission ( as Deputy Director from 1989 to 1992); from 1992 to 1995, second secretary and then first secretary of the Education Division of the Chinese Embassy in the United States; from 1995 to 1996, worked as adirector-level cadre, from 1996 to 1998 as Director of the Comprehensive Survey Research Office as well as Assistant to Chief of the Division of Ideological and Political Education of the National Educational Commission; from 1998 to May 2004, Deputy Chief of the Division of Elementary Education of the Ministry of Education (formerly known as the National Educational Commission); May 2004,was appointed as Chairman of the University Council of Beijing Jiaotong University.
Ning Bin, President of BJTU, PH.D,professor, Ph.D. advisor in Information and Transportation Control Engineering, was born in Jishan County, Shanxi province in May 1959.He graduated from the Department of Electronics and Information of NJTU. In 1987 and 2005, he respectively received his Master and Ph.D.  of Engineering degree at NJTU. He worked as Secretary of Communist Party Branch of the Office of Teaching and Research; Vice Secretary of the General Communist Party Branch of Department of Graduate Studies; Director of the Foreign Affairs Office, etc. From 1991 to 1992, he studied at Brunel University (London, UK) in Electronics and Electrical Power Engineering as a visit scholar. From October 2002 to February 2003, he continued to pursue his study at UC Berkeley as a senior visiting scholar. He took the position as Vice President of BJTU in December 1997. since 2004,He is the Executive Vice President of BJTU. In March 2008, Prof. Ning was appointed President of Beijing Jiaotong University. Prof. Ning is also People’s Representative of the 13th People’s Congress of the Beijing Municipality. His other important social positions include: fellow of the Association of International Railway Signaling Engineers(IRSE); member of IEEE; fellow of China Railway Society; Deputy Director of China Traffic System Engineering Society; Deputy Director of Beijing Railway Society; member of China Overseas Returned Scholars Association; member of the editorial board of the Journal of Railways in China; Chief Editor of the Journal of Beijing Jiaotong University and Deputy Chief of the editorial board of the Urban Rapid Rail Transit magazine.
Yan Wuer, Vice Chairman of the University Council of BJTU, was born in Beijing in October 1959. He graduated from the Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics of NJTU and earned his bachelor’s degree in January 1982. Work experience: Secretary of the Youth League of NJTU, Director of the Student Affairs Office, Secretary of the General Communist Party Branch of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electrical Power Studies, Chief of the General Affairs Office, etc.; Vice President of NJTU since December 1997, Vice Chairman of the University Council of NJTU since January 2000. Other social positions: commissioner of the 8th ACYF (All Chinese Youth Federation); Director of CCSI (China Creative Studies Institute); Director of the University Department of the Moral Education Committee of China Ethics Society; Vice Director-general of Beijing Creative Studies Institute; Editor-in-Chief of <<Beijing Education>> (Moral Education Edition); Vice President of China Badminton Association; President of National University Badminton Association; Vice President of National University Volleyball Association; Vice President of Beijing Association of University Sports.

Gao Futing, Vice Chairman of the University Council of BJTU, Chairman of the University Trade Union, was born in Hohhot of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in October 1956. He began to work in October 1974. In February 1982, he graduated from the Department of Electronics Engineering of NJTU; in July 1986, he graduated from the Department of Politics and Management of Capital Normal University and at the meantime received two Bachelor’s degrees. From February 1978 to October 2004, he successively worked as the Vice Secretary and then Secretary of the General Branch of Youth League of the Department of Electronic Engineering of NJTU; Chief of the Office of the Department; Deputy Director of the Department of Public Relations of NJTU; Director of the Office of Institutional Reform; Director of the Office of Reform and Development Committee of NJTU; Director of the Office of the Communist Party Committee of NJTU; Director of the Personnel Office; Assistant to the President; member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party Committee of NJTU and Vice President of NJTU. Since October 2004, he took the position of member of the Standing Committee of Communist Party Committee of BJTU, Vice Chairman of the University Council of BJTU and Chairman of the University Trade Union, in charge of University Office, public relations, archives, Alumni Association and Board of Directors. In December 2003, he was elected as the delegate the 13th National People’s Congress of the Haidian District of Beijing.

Gao Yan, Vice Chairman of the University Council of BJTU, was born in Baotou City of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in November 1964. She joined the Communist Party in June 1985. She began to study Wireless Communication at NJTU in September 1982, graduated in July 1986 and received her Bachelor of Engineering degree. In September 1999, she was admitted in the graduate entrance examination to NJTU while working at NJTU, studying Human Resources Management at the School of Economics and Management. In March 2002, she graduated and received her Master of Economics degree. Since July 1986, she worked at NJTU, took the position as Deputy Head of Technical Cadre Affairs Group of the Personnel Office; Deputy Head of Faculty Affairs Group; Head of Human Resources Group; Deputy Director of the Personnel Office; Deputy Director and then Director of the Organization Department; Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the School of Computer and Information Technology. On April 2004, she took position as Vice Chairman of the University Council of BJTU.

Chen Feng, Vice President, professor, was born in Huhhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in November 1962. He joined the Communist Party in June 1983. In September 1979, he was admitted to NJTU to study Civil Engineering. In 1983 and 1990, he received bachelor degree and master degree successively at NJTU. In 1995, he was awarded the “May Fourth” badge and praised as one of the Excellent Young Talents in Science and Technology by the Ministry of Railways. In 1996, he was awarded as the Young Disciplinary Leading Figures of Beijing. Since 1993, he successively took positions as Vice Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture; Associate Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture; Deputy Chief of the Research Center for Urban Railway Transportation; Director of the Office of Admissions and Employment; Director of the University Office, etc. In October 2004, he took the position as Vice President of BJTU. He was a senior visiting scholar to Queensland University of Technology in Australia from February 1999 to March 2000. At present, his other social positions include: member of the 11th Editors Committee of <<Subgrade Engineering>>; Deputy Director of the 2nd Editors Committee of <<Urban Rapid Rail Transit>>.

Li Xuewei, Vice President, Ph.D., professor, Ph.D. advisor, was born in Yiyang County, Henan Province in January 1962. He joined the Communist Party in October 1985. He graduated from the Department of Electronic Engineering of Heilongjiang Commercial College in July 1982 and received his bachelor’s degree in engineering. In March 1987, he graduated from the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Southwest Jiaotong University, studied under Professor Pan Qijing, a specialist in computer network and received his master’s degree in engineering. In December 1990, he graduated from the major of Probability Theory and Mathematics Process at Central South University, where he studied under Professor Hou Zhenting, a renowned mathematician, and Professor Wu Peigen, a specialist in automation, and finally received his Ph.D. in Science. During the period at Central South University, he took position as the Vice Chairman of Research and Engineering Committee of Hunan Province. From January 1991 to June 1996, assistant researcher of CRECC; from July 1992 to March 1993, Deputy General Engineer of Shenzhen Kaili Corporation; from April 1993 to February 1995, Deputy Director of the Office of Science and Research and Deputy Director of the Science Park of Southwest Jiaotong University; from March 1995 to January 1999, associate professor, professor and Ph.D. advisor of the School of Economics and Management of NJTU; from January 1999 to October 2004, Deputy Director and then Director of the Office of Science and Technology of BJTU. In 2001 he was awarded as Excellent Director of the Office of Science and Technology. Other honors include: Disciplinary Leading Figure of Beijing; Specialist of Prominent Contribution of the Ministry of Railways; Standing member of China Society of Soft-Science Research; Standing member of China Society of Quantitative Economics(CSQE); senior member of China Society of Railways; commissioner of China Society of Information and Economics.

Wang Yongsheng, Vice President, Ph.D., professor, Ph.D. advisorwas born in Jilin City, Jilin Province on February 1963. From September 1981 to July 1985, he studied in the department of Physics of Northeast Normal University; from July 1985 to September 1988, he worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Physics Department of Northeast Electric Power College; from September 1988 to July 1993, he pursued his further study for master’s and doctoral degrees at Changchun Physics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Science and finally received his Ph.D. in Science. From July 1993 to June 1995, he worked at Nankai University as a Post-doctoral fellow. From June 1995 to today, he has been working at NJTU (Now BJTU): from October 1996 to April 1997, Chairman of the Physics Department of the School of Science; from April 1997 to September 1998, Deputy Chief of the Research Institute of Optoelectronics and Photonics; from September 1998 to February 2001, Associate Dean of School of Science; from February 2001 to September 2003, Dean of the School of Science. From September 2003 to October 2004, he took position as Standing Associate Dean of the Graduate School, Director of the Department of Graduate Student Affairs and Director of the Academic Degree Affairs Office of BJTU. Since October 2004, he has been Vice President of BJTU. His other social positions include: Standing member and then Deputy Director of China Society of Luminescence; Standing member of Photoelectric Technology Specialist Committee of Chinese Optical Society; member of Youth Committee of Chinese Materials Research Society; member of Railway Materials Crafts Committee of China Society of Railways; member of the 8th Beijing Youth Federation; member of the Association of Chinese Young Science and Technology Specialists; member of the editorial board of Modern Display Technology, Chinese Journal of Luminescence and Chinese Journal of Liquid Crystals and Displays.

Zhang Xingchen, Vice President, Professor and Ph.D. advisor in Transportation Planning and Management.He was born in September 1960 in Minquan, Henan Province. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Mining Engineering from the Henan Jiaozuo Mining Institute. From 1984 to 1985, he studied System Engineering at the Beijing Aeronautics Institute. In 1988, he received a Master’s degree in System Engineering from the Department of Economics and Management at the Fuxin Mining Institute in the Liaoning Province. He worked as instructor, and then associate director for the Office of Teaching and Research, at the Department of Economics and Management of the Jiaozuo Mining Institute. In 1995, he was awarded Ph.D. in Transportation Management and Engineering by the Department of Transportation Management at the Northern Jiaotong University. He worked at the same department and university since then and used to hold the following posts: Associate Director and then Director of Transportation Teaching and Research, interim Provost and then Provost, Director of University Human Resource, Director of Human Resource for the Communist Party branch. He was named the Vice President in March 2008. He is also a executive trustee for the China Association of Computer Simulations, and a trustee of Beijing Association of Transportation Engineering.

 

Sun Shouguang, Vice President, Professor and Ph.D. advisor in Vehicle Operation Engineering. He was born in August 1962 in Anning, Heilongjiang Province. After studying Dynamics at the Harbin Institute of Vessel Engineering, he worked as teaching assistant at the Office of Material Dynamics Teaching and Research from 1982 to 1985. In 1992, he received Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics from Tsinghua University. From 1992, he started his career at the College of Electronic Control (formerly the Department of Mechanics) of the Northern Jiaotong University. He used to serve as instructor, associate professor, professor, associate dean and dean. He was named the Vice President of the university in March 2008. He is also the academic committee member of the State Key Laboratory for traction power, and the editor for the Railed Vehicle Magazine.
