Chinese character XueBeijing Jiaotong University is one of the earliest universities authorized by the Chinese government to enroll overseas students. Ever since BJTU has received over 3,000 foreign students and visiting scholars from as many as 71 countries and regions of Asia, Africa, Europe and North America etc.

The university has first-rate teaching and research equipment, abundant library resources and a complete set of sport and recreational facilities, which provide her students with a suitable environment for study and living. Now there are 355 overseas students from about 64 countries and regions studying at BJTU.

Located on the 2nd ring of the city of Beijing, BJTU is nearby the Xizhimen metro station and other means of urban transportation. The distance from Beijing airport to BJTU campus is 35km and transport between is very convenient.

BJTU LibraryBJTU consists of:

BJTU has a faculty of over 1,445 members (including 8 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 244 professors and 555 associate professors), 13,784 undergraduate students and 7,108 graduate students (including 1,600 Ph.D. students). In addition, there are also 355 overseas students from 64 countries.

Admission requirements

 

Requirements

Undergraduate Academic record equivalent to a Chinese secondary school graduate; HSK Level 4 Certificate; pass of relevant examinations
Master's A Chinese Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent; two recommendations by two professors or associate professors; pass of relevant examinations
Ph.D. A Chinese Master's Degree or an equivalent; two recommendations by two professors or associate professors; pass of relevant examinations
General further study Two or more than two years of formal university education; pursuit of study in his or her original or relevant major
Senior further study A Chinese Master's Degree or an equivalent; pursuit of further study in a specific field under the guidance of BJTU supervisors
Language learning Academic record equivalent to a Chinese secondary school graduate

Application

We love computers1. Eligible applicants should deliver their applications and the following materials to the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange:

a) Application Form of Beijing Jiaotong University for Overseas Students;
b) Notarized certificates of study and academic record transcripts (photocopy acceptable);
c) Guaranteeing certification (Financial Support Statement) provided by guarantors of legal responsibility;
d) Health certification provided by a public hospital (Physical Examination Form).

2. Degree-pursuing applicants should deliver their applications during April 1st through May 30th of the year.

3. Language learning applicants should deliver their applications as early as they can.

4. Short-term language learning applicants intended for Summer should deliver their applications by May 31st; for Winter, by November 30th.

5. The qualified applicants will be provided with Student Visa Application Form for Overseas Student to Study in China (Form JW202) and the Admission Notice.

Students should bring the JW202 Table and the Admission Notice to the local Chinese embassy or consulate to apply for Student Visa (X) or Visa (F).

Hot summer is cool & blueTuition & fees

All the quoted prices hereafter are in Chinese yuan (¥RMB) and subject to periodical updates.

1. Application fee: ¥600 for graduate programs, ¥500 for other programs

2. Tuition:

Undergraduate ¥22,000/year
Master's ¥26,000/year
MBA ¥28,000/year (taught in Chinese)
¥35,000/year (taught in English)
Ph.D. ¥34,000/year
General further study ¥22,000/year
Senior further study ¥27,000/year
Long-term language study ¥9,000/semester
Short-term language study ¥2,760 for the initial 3 weeks
¥640 increment for each further week
(20 hours per week)
Preparatory program ¥20,000/year
(Courses include Chinese, Mathematics, Physics, etc.)

3. Books: about ¥400 per year.

Tuition fee should be paid by the beginning of the semester; if withdrawal or transfer happens after the beginning of the semester, the tuition fee will not be returned or transferred. For those who want to continue their studies but fail to pay the tuition fee on time, a payment delay of 2 months can be allowed with an overdue fine equivalent to 5% of the tuition fee.

If the cost standard is adjusted and cannot be informed to the students in time, the standard publicized by the university during registration will be regarded as the final standard. It is recommended that students inquire about the details when necessary.

A standard room: How neat & cozy!Residence

Standard room: two beds each room with a private toilet room, a color TV set, a telephone and air conditioning.

Normal room: two beds each room with a color TV set, a telephone and air conditioning; each floor with pubic toilet rooms and public shower rooms, which are cleaned by the residence service everyday.

A normal roomMeals: students can either take meals in student canteens or cook their own food in dorm kitchens.

Registration

New student should take the Admission Notice, JW202 form, Health Certification and 8 2-inch half-length photos to register at the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange according to the date as informed.
